Better late than never!
Apologies on posting these so late, the New Year has been insanely busy so far so I haven’t had time to devote to our awesome guild!
Our December meeting was as lively as ever, so much so that we had to relocate to the cafeteria at the University- luckily our room was adjoined to it so it made an easy move so we could freely share the love of our quilts, fabric, and more!
It was so cool to see all the different styles of ornaments everyone made and swapped, so much fun!
We then had our fantastic show and tell which is always so inspiring, you can check out all of the photos below, or click to see them bigger here.
Ellen and Amy then presented our group challenge of a Block lotto to make Bow Tie blocks for the lotto at our January meeting.
Fun times as always! We also did a group shot of our Kona Modern Quilts projects…
Here’s the group from December, thank you all for coming!
On to our January meeting, where we welcomed Paul of Paul’s Block Party to share his work with us. He also brought some of his antique and family quilt collection, I particularly loved his story about “flipping back the covers to see all the ladies” when he was sharing an antique group quilt that had been made by several ladies- teehee!
Amazing, creative, inspiring, and just pure awesome! Paul is such a nice guy and loves to talk fabric and quilts, and we thoroughly enjoyed having him! Big thanks to him and his crew for coming to share his work with us!
We are having him back this month for a workshop on February 16th, for Pick Up Sticks blocks. If you’re interested, please contact Lysa directly to register and get the course info and supply list.
We also welcomed Cathy of Steam Trunk Craftworks who gave us a challenge due for our March meeting, using Sari Silks ribbons and yarns. The only requirements were to “make something” and send Cathy a photo of your finished project(s) by March 15. Â She’ll then be drawing for a gift certificate to her shop for one lucky winner! Can’t wait to see what everyone creates! She also asked that if you’re interested, you can loan your project(s) to her to display in her booth at the upcoming Creative Stitches Show in March at Tradex in Abbotsford. Â And please go “like” Steam Trunk Craftworks on Facebook here.
Speaking of the Creative Stitches Show, we’ll be there again this year! We’re be coordinating volunteers to help work in our booth this year, please come help and share the love about our guild! Signups will be continuing at the February meeting/sew-in on the 23rd- more info to come about the meeting shortly.
You can check out all of the photos from the January meeting below, or click here to see them larger.
Big huge thank you’s to everyone who makes our meetings so much fun and enjoyable!
I’d also like everyone to send big special thanks to Lysa for being our hostess with the mostest, and amazing events and workshops coordinator, she works very hard each month to coordinate all of the news and upcoming events, plus  bring us fun classes and awesome speakers and organizes all of the details with our workshops- please give her a huge round of applause!
Also huge thanks to Carol, our amazing photographer who captures our fun moments, Sherri for coordinating our doorprizes and snacks, Cathy for our monthly Fat Quarter Swaps, and Amy and Ellen for our great demos and challenges! And big thanks to everyone for being part of our guild and making it the fun, inspiring, and welcoming place that it is!
Our next meeting is Saturday, February 23rd, which will be an all-day sew-in combined with our regular meeting. Agenda will be sent out week of, stay tuned and hope to see you there!
