President’s Update – Laraine
Bylaw updates – Jean will be leading a group in late spring to look at our bylaws and decide on any changes.
New vice-president – Marilyn has agreed to act as our vice-president for the rest of this year. Thanks Marilyn!
Community Quilts – Joanne
We just donated a couple of quilts to Abbotsford Victim Services. They are happy to accept quilts from us in the future. We will still have quilts available for families in need.
Red & black squares and instructions are available for anyone who wants to put together a block for this month’s quilt. Please grab one if you have a few minutes to make a block.
Creativ Festival – Jean
Please contact Jean directly if you have not picked up your quilt labels yet – instructions for applying them are in the envelope.
We still have 7 volunteer slots open and needing to be filled.
If you are showing more than one quilt please let Jean know which one you want to be voted on. We have limited space and lots of quilts this year!
We would like permission to use these quilts at a presentation on modern quilting, on the Monday after the show.
Upcoming Meetings – Joan
March meeting will feature a trunk show with our own Stacey Day. We are hoping she will have copies of her new book available for purchase and signing!
April meeting will feature mini-workshops. If you have something you could demo to the group in 15 minutes, please talk to Joan.
May meeting will feature a trunk show with Krista Hennebury from Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild. For more info take a look at her blog at poppyprintcreates.blogspot.ca . We are planning a workshop on a cool paper-pieced pouch with Lysa Mair.
June meeting: Trunk sale
July meeting: Potluck picnic at Mission Heritage Park
August meeting: Trunk show with Amy Dame from Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild.
Membership Update – Barb
Welcome to our guests tonight. We have a new drop-in policy. The first drop-in visit is free and visitors are welcome to try us out for three more meetings with a $5 drop-in fee.
Show & Tell
Lots of inspirational show & tell tonight and fun red & white makes to look at. Thank you to everyone who brought their work to share. This is always a really fun way to see what other people are making!
We enjoyed a second round of de-stashing which was even bigger than the first. Lots of items found new homes. A special thank-you to Joanne who gamely loaded up her vehicle with the leftovers to drop off to a local thrift store! Next destash will be January 2019.
