Krista Hennebury Poppyprint: The Search for Signature Style
This presentation delivers simple, practical advice on finding your own creative voice while staying connected to, and inspired by, your virtual and real life quilting communities. This photo-rich presentation features real life examples of actions and work from Krista’s own 20-year quilting story, focusing mainly on her most recent designs.
A bit about Krista…
On her blog www.poppyprintcreates.blogspot.ca, Krista Hennebury describes herself as a geologist by training and a quilter by choice. Quilting was her second-choice hobby after woodworking, but soon became an obsession. Since 2000, Krista’s tried every technique at least once, worked & taught in an LQS, blogged for 10 years, published many magazine patterns and a book (Make It, Take It; 16 cute and clever projects to make with friends, Martingale, 2015), run over 60 day retreats, coordinated Vancouver’s first ever Modern Quilt Showcase, taught in 7 countries (twice above the Arctic Circle!) and on a cruise ship. She’s had one or more quilts juried into QuiltCon and Quilt Canada every year since 2014 and is an active participant in her local modern and general guilds. Krista now calls herself “a traditionally-informed modern quilter”; her current passion is sharing the creative freedom of improvisational piecing and ruler-free cutting with her students (all the while keeping track of her scant 1/4” seam allowance and pressing to one side).
